Dept. Dispatch #001
Filed Under: Unlicensed Curriculums, Creator Case Studies & Mild Existential Realizations
I didn’t mean to start this newsletter at 4:12 AM.
But April broke in through the window.
Not metaphorically. Literally. At 4:12 AM, a gust snapped my window frame open like it was trying to shake me awake. I was already awake.
Day 5 of the 100-Day Info Sprint. Laptop open. Brain melting.
Somewhere between clarity and caffeine overdose, this thought hit me:
“We’ve made a creator economy without a creator curriculum.”
This newsletter is my attempt to fix that.
What you’ll find inside isn’t your typical “newsletter.” It’s part field report, part blueprint, and part investigative journalism into how 7-figure creator-educators are bending reality (and Notion databases) to build Intellectual Asset empires.
Enjoy this first issue. Smell the metaphorical ink. Share it if you survive.
And if it moves you in any way—let me know. I’m lurking on LinkedIn, X, and Instagram. Probably too much.
A certain creator quietly released a digital product without bells and whistles.
Just a simple announcement in a YouTube description box.
He didn’t plan to build a business. He just needed to get his life together.
So he built a Notion template.
A few friends asked for it.
Then strangers.
Then… the internet.
He didn’t run ads. He didn’t write a sales page. He didn’t do the “build in public” ritual dance.
Instead, he quietly linked it in a YouTube description box.
Then another.
And another.
Now?
His system has generated over $1M in revenue….in just 2 years, with less than 300K subscribers.
So I did what any normal person would do:
I opened 47 tabs.
Watched 60+ videos.
Spent 120+ hours mapping his moves like I was cracking a safe. (and dealing with several existential crises)
This wasn’t an accident.
It was slow-compounding leverage disguised as helpful content.

🧩 Strategy Session
Here’s what I’m testing:
Don’t start with what to sell.
Start with what problem you can permanently delete.
Then reverse engineer everything else.
Try this prompt:
“After someone finishes this, they will no longer ____.”
It reveals usefulness fast.
If it’s fuzzy, so is your offer.
If it’s sharp, your path is too.
The best products don’t impress people.
They free them.
🔍 Inside the Dept.
Confession: I didn’t think anyone would read this.
I don’t have a big audience. Or VC-backed vibes. Or those crisp vertical videos where someone says “here’s what no one is talking about” in the first 3 seconds.
But I do have momentum.
And a clear mission.
Here’s what’s happened in the last 10 days:
- 🧠 1 consulting offer → clarity (and cash)
- 🛠️ 1 IA ecosystem → under construction
- 📦 0 time wasted pitching or “building audience”
- 💡 1 newsletter → you’re reading it
The lesson?
If I document systems, not just stories—I win.
If you apply them—you do too.
🧠 The Info Edge
Hot take to end on:
“Most creators are addicted to novelty because it feels like progress.”
But they need structure.
Rituals that generate leverage over time.
This newsletter is one of mine.
A weekly checkpoint.
A system for staying dangerous.
And a flashlight in the weird fog of the creator economy.
🧾 TL;DR for the Lazy Genius:
- Thomas Frank built a Notion-powered, million-dollar edu-biz (see: Deep Dive 🔍)
- Content ≠ IP ≠ IA (yes, they’re different) (see: IA Shift)
- We’re all operating inside a hidden curriculum (free guide)
- Your outcome matters more than your format (Strategy Session)
- Novelty is noise. Structure is power.
🗣️ Help Me Build This Thing
Let me know which direction to push this:
- More behind-the-scenes?
- More case-study heavy?
- More failures + frameworks?
- More spicy commentary on the creator economy?
Reply and say hi.
This is just Day 6 of 100. We’re building in the margins, not the mainstream.
